Welcome to Q-SYS Level One Online Training. My name is Patrick Heyn, and my name is Nathan Makaryk
0:13
and we'll be your course instructors throughout this introduction to Q-SYS and the Q-SYS Designer software.
0:18
First of all, what can you expect from this training?
0:22
This training course is designed to get you qualified to build a networked audio system design using the QSC ecosystem.
0:29
The training is broken into different modules that focus on various concepts or processes.
0:35
Each module involves watching several short videos
0:38
and then passing an online assessment that tests your knowledge of those videos.
0:43
After you have passed the assessment for all of the individual modules, you'll be ready for the final exam,
0:48
in which you will build a complete audio design from scratch based on a system spec we will provide you.
0:54
You'll submit your design to us for review, and if you pass then you will receive your Q-SYS Level One Certificate
1:00
and are eligible to sign up for advanced in-class Level Two training.
1:06
You should download the latest version of Q-SYS Designer software and keep it open while watching each video.
1:12
Follow along with us and learn as you go.
1:15
The software is pretty simple and intuitive, but watching the videos is no substitute for doing it yourself.
1:21
We know that this kind of training can traditionally be a little dry. Boring.
1:28
So we're going to do our best to keep things light and entertaining as possible.
1:32
In return you have to promise, not to be a big old cheater.
1:36
Yeah! You see this training course is worth InfoComm CTS credits (Whaaaaa?!),
1:42
and some people might think they can fly through this material for some quick credits
1:47
There's no flying in here, buddy!
1:50
Well I oughta warn you right now that if you fail any assessment three times in a row
1:55
FAIL! FAIL! FAIL!
1:57
You will be locked out, until you contact us and we have to reset it for you.
2:03
And furthermore, if you're working on your design with someone else in your company
2:08
and you just decide to copy and paste parts of their design and put it in yours and call it your own... SHAME.
2:15
We can tell. If we even suspect that any part of your final design is not your own
2:22
we will ask you to submit a new design. SHAME.
2:26
And this new design will be based on a far more difficult system spec, alright? Okay, good.
2:33
From time to time, we may update certain modules
2:37
or add new videos as new features are added to the Designer software.
2:41
You can also learn more by selecting Q-SYS QuickStarts,
2:45
which contain modules on additional features that are not required in level 1 certification.
2:50
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
2:53
We respond to every email and we love getting feedback because we are always working to improve this course.
2:59
Our goal is to get you certified, and we're eager to help. So let's get started.
3:05
You can take the modules in any order, but you really should start with the first one
3:09
Hardware Overview, which will teach you about all the physical devices that are involved in a Q-SYS system,
3:13
and then the second module will show you how to navigate the Designer software.
3:18
Before you begin, it's time to take your first assessment, based on the video you're watching right now.
3:23
It's only five questions long, but you'll have to get every single question right in order to start your training.
3:28
If you fail on this test, you'll have to e-mail us and ask for forgiveness in order to try again.
3:33
Good luck, and we look forward to seeing your submission soon.
