Setting Up Basic Tracking

Video Transcript

00:07
Welcome back.
00:07
In this part of the training,
00:08
we're going to be covering basic tracking,
00:10
which means creating some trigger zones,
00:13
some tracking zones and containers in Seervision and linking all of that together,
00:17
using the Q-SYS plug in. Let's get started.
00:21
Let's begin by moving the camera to a home position.
00:24
From this position,
00:25
we can trigger zones and tracking zones
00:27
and we’ll return to this position when tracking stops.
00:30
Just use the controls underneath the camera preview to move the camera.
00:33
And when you're happy at a position container,
00:36
it's a good idea to save this position as a home position increases as well
00:40
so that your camera goes to the same place.
00:42
Whether it's recalled from Seervision or Q-SYS.
00:45
Back in Seervision lets add a trigger zone
00:47
and this will be the zone that starts tracking once someone enters it.
00:52
First, press the plus button next to the trigger zone section on the left.
00:56
This will add the new zone.
00:57
Then you can click on the pencil icon to edit the zone.
01:00
Next, resize the zone in the camera preview window.
01:04
You can have it cover the entire presentation area like this,
01:07
but it's a good idea to have it cover somewhere more specific
01:10
so that tracking doesn't begin inadvertently.
01:13
I'm going to set it up to cover the presenter's desk.
01:17
Rename the zone to something memorable and then hit save.
01:21
Next, we're going to add a tracking zone.
01:23
And a tracking zone notifies Q-SYS when someone who is being tracked leaves the zone.
01:28
So we can use that to stop tracking and return to our home position
01:32
because I want the presenter to be able to walk anywhere along the front wall.
01:36
I'm going to make sure the tracking zone covers that area,
01:39
rename the zone and hit Save.
01:45
So now we can start and stop tracking using the zones we just made.
01:48
But we need to choose what kind of tracking we want to do.
01:52
This.
01:52
Let's add a shot container which can include all the tracking settings we want to use.
01:57
Let's choose one of these presets and then right click and choose edit.
02:04
This is the container edit window and it contains this little stick person.
02:08
By moving this person around and adjusting the relative size property.
02:12
We can change how the person is going to be framed when tracking begins.
02:17
If you like, you can also control the camera's zoom directly,
02:20
which means that the container will always go to the same focal length
02:23
regardless of the size of the presenter within the frame.
02:27
By adding the zoom component and removing the relative size component,
02:31
you can see that the preview just gives a circle for the position of the presenter's head
02:35
within the frame and then we can adjust the zoom directly.
02:39
However, in this example,
02:40
I'm going to leave it set to relative size.
02:44
Once you set up your container with the desired settings,
02:47
rename it to something meaningful and then hit save.
02:53
While we're here, let's also rename the position container that we made earlier.
03:02
Great.
03:03
Now let's head back to the Q-SYS plugin where we can link the trigger zones,
03:06
tracking zones and the containers will go to the tracking camera's page in the save is in plugin,
03:12
even though there's quite a lot of controls here,
03:15
it's fundamentally quite straightforward.
03:17
In the events tab,
03:18
we're just going to choose a trigger zone and the type of
03:21
event we want to look out for within that zone.
03:23
Then we're linking that to the container we want to recall in the actions section.
03:28
Let's begin by choosing the presenter's desk trigger zone
03:32
and we want to look out for when the presenter enters the zone.
03:37
Now, in the action section, we're going to choose our full body tracking container.
03:43
That's it.
03:43
Now, when someone enters that zone,
03:45
it will recall a kind of tracking we set up in the container.
03:49
Let's try this out with my colleague George and pay attention to the LEDs in the plugin.
03:54
As George enters the trigger zone,
03:56
we see the trigger that LED lights up and the running LED light up
04:00
and that running LED stays lit until Seervision is happy that it's
04:03
met the parameters set inside the container.
04:07
Now George is going to leave the tracking zone and we expect tracking to stop
04:10
and the camera to go home.
04:13
But we've actually got one more step we need to do before that happens.
04:20
At the top of the events section,
04:21
you can see there's a row reserved for the fallback event.
04:25
The fallback event is when the presenter leaves the tracking zone
04:28
so it doesn't relate to a specific trigger zone.
04:31
By choosing the home position as the container here,
04:34
we're telling the system that we want to go to the home position.
04:37
When the presenter leaves the tracking zone.
04:39
Be sure to activate the enable toggle button on the left as well.
04:44
And with that event enabled,
04:46
we can see that when George leaves the tracking zone,
04:48
the fallback event is triggered and the camera returns to the home position.
04:57
So you know how to link triggers zones,
04:59
tracking zones,
05:00
containers in the Q-SYS plug in to create basic tracking.
05:04
Now, in the next part of the training,
05:05
we'll be heading downstairs to the auditorium to cover a few topics that
05:09
allow you to refine the tracking to make it perfect for whatever use case you're working on.
05:14
I'll see you there.
